Meet Our Intern, Anushree Samsi

Hi everyone, my name is Anushree Samsi and I am really excited to be interning with GOTRBA this summer! I am a rising senior at Alsion Montessori Middle/High School and I have also been a competitive soccer player for seven years.

My love for sports started at a very early age. I love being active, picking up every and any sport I can. In school, I loved organizing recess soccer games with my classmates. That’s where my love for soccer really began. When I was in 5th grade, I joined Fremont Youth Soccer Club to formalize that passion and when the team at Fremont disbanded due to a lack of girls wanting to play, I moved to 1974 Newark Football Club.

In addition to just playing, I also became a coach for the City of Fremont’s recreation and sports team, where I have the opportunity to share my love of sports with the next generation.

My playing and coaching experience is what collectively inspired me to join GOTRBA. Both the lack of girls wanting to play on my team coupled with me witnessing each consecutive age cohort in the city youth programs bleeding more and more girls impelled me to want to improve initiatives that support girls in sports and empower them through it. GOTRBA does exactly that.

I’m grateful for the opportunity to be part of this team that is making strides in gender equity and supporting the next generation of strong leaders.
